Hello again everyone! My name is Ian, and I’m here with my 12-week report. I’ve been a Myogenics client since Fall of 2006. For the past 2 years, I’ve been dealing with medical issues on and off, and I’ve actually had 2 surgeries in a matter of 9 months. As I mentioned in my 4-week report, it was only about a week or two of me coming out of surgery, when Chad announced our 12-week challenge. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to take part in it, but I wanted to at least give it a shot and get back to working on being healthy again.
During my struggles with my health, I gained about 8 – 10 lbs. I know that doesn’t seem like a lot, but I have a small frame. (I’m 5-ft. tall, and I try to keep myself at a healthy weight that’s proportionate to my size.) Things were a roller-coaster ride for me. It didn’t matter what I did – I tried to eat right, and I kept up with my Myogenics sessions. I asked my doctor what exactly is it that I’m doing wrong that is making me not well. Her simple answer was, “There are some things that you just have no control over.” That threw me for a loop, and I sunk into a bit of a depression. But throughout all of this, I remained committed to my workouts. Myogenics was the only thing that was keeping me sane and making me feel that I had some control on improving my health – not just physically but especially mentally.
This 12-week challenge was definitely a mind-altering experience. The food logs have given me a new perception on the types of food I need to eat and a new perception on my eating habits. Having an objective eye on what I’ve been eating and how much I need to eat was definitely a rude awakening. All along I thought I’ve been eating right, but my diaries definitely did not reflect that. The challenge has also opened my mind to thinking of my body as a machine. Doing this has helped me realize how I need to treat my body better, listen to what it needs and know how far I can go beyond my limits during my training. This has also helped me improve my focus during my workouts. I mentioned in my 8-week report how I started noticing a wonderful sensation that I experience after my workouts where I find myself extremely relaxed. This feeling sometimes gets so intense for a good 2 – 3 hours that I just find it difficult to stress out no matter what is going on around me. It’s become my “natural high.”
I have so far lost about 7 lbs. I plan on shedding just a couple more pounds and get back to my normal weight. I’ve definitely toned-up, and my clothes now fit better. I made a solemn promise to myself to stay committed to the lessons I’ve learned during this challenge, which I know is now pretty much embedded in my everyday life. I truly don’t know how any of us can go back to our old habits and just let go of what we’ve taken from this, especially if we’re all that serious about staying healthy. So although there may be things that I cannot control in my life, like a stressful job or medical issues, Myogenics has helped me realize that there are ways I can still achieve healthy living in body, mind and spirit.
